Ive been using for over 6 months and it still works fine. I love my George Foreman. It is easy to use and clean.
Also, the grill plates do not come out so you have to find a way to clean the grilling surface without getting the rest of the machine wet. Buying a slightly larger machine with removable grilling plates would solved most, if not all, of this problems.Foreman makes a good machine. This grill is very well made and sturdy. Most importantly, this machine's grilling surface is only large enough to fit one medium sized filet or chicken breast at a time. it seems that it will not break easily. It heats quickly and grills just as it should. However, the back hinge does not allow for thicker pieces of meat so you end up getting a piece of meat that is over cooked at the back of the grill and under cooked at the front of the grill.
Note, this model is small, but it is great for my needs. This grill, for me, is a simple way to grill almost anything. I think it is the greatest, but if you are cooking for "two" buy the bigger model. As far as cleaning, reviews I had read said it was a not an easy clean up, but I found once it cools down (by the time I am done eating), it wipes clean with a damp sponge easily. With alittle olive oil spray on my breaded chicken cutlets, or asparagus I have had simple and fast tasty dinners. I have grilled salmon pattys, scallops, and flounder also on my little grill.
It's just a big mess when you finish cooking.I had an original George Foreman many years ago, and that was a little better, but I finally gave it away. Might work if you put some filler in it.Cleanup is a real chore, even with the coating. I tried a hamburger once, and that was a complete disaster.
I live alone now, and thought I might enjoy it. At least, that puts flavor in. I bought this smaller version of the grill on recommendation.
I cook a lot of chicken strips, and they are completely dried out when cooked in the grill. I will just shy away from anything named George Foreman from now on. I am giving it to the person who recommended it.
It cooks quickly, which I do like, and puts nice grill marks on meat, but I would rather stick something in the oven.
At the most, the hinge raises 1/4 of an inch. when the real surface is 6" by 6". Another description, "1 1/2 inch floating hinge" is a LIE. This is my second George Foreman grill. THIS GRILL IS TOTALLY INADEQUATE FOR MY NEEDS. The grill is inadequate in two areas of the description: size of the grill and the amount of floating hinge. I purchased this one in order to grill rueben sandwiches. Another Reviewer has already described the misleading phrase, "36 inch grilling surface".
